 Performance of research activities in the field of metal engineering.
Elaboration and perfection of methods and computational algorithms for metalwork used in buildings and other structures.

During 2000-2009 the department was dealt with the following activities
Information and reference system for consideration of geologically and atmospherically dangerous regions in Ukraine with the purpose to avoid accidents risk and extraordinary situations at OJSC "Ukrtelecom" premises was elaborated.
Concept aimed at the use of wind-driven electric plants for electric power supply of communication systems at OJSC "Ukrtelecom" premises was developed.
Filling with cartographical, regulatory and reference data base for computerized information search system at "Borispol" airport was carried out.
License acquisition with permission to perform the Institute's scientific and technical activity was provided.
Colloquiums "Improvements in methods for calculation, design, erection and repair of the steel tanks" in September in 2003 and 2005 in the cities Skadovsk and Krivoj Rog were prepared and organized.
VIII Ukrainian Scientific Conference "The metalwork: insight in the past and in the future" in October 2004 was organized.
V International Scientific Conference "The metalwork in civil engineering: state of the art and perspectives", which took place in Kiev in September, 2006 in Kiev was organized also.
IX Ukrainian Scientific Conference "The metalwork: insight in the past and in the future" in September 2008 in Kiev was organized.
Intensive work was done dealing with preparation for pre-certification audit of quality management system in force at the Institute as to compliance with International Standard ISO 9001:2000 requirements.
Colloquium "Calculation and design of spatial structures" in September 2009 in the citie Skadovsk was prepared and organized.
VI International scientific and technical conference " Building designs sports and spatial constructions is organized and lead: the present and prospects of development " in September, 2010 in Kiev.
With participation of the department's employees a number of State Building Codes of Ukraine, as well as some reference books and monographs were published, among them are
